Veteran Voices Productions
Since 2015, we have been presenting fully staged productions of poetic plays written by military veterans. We began with the critically-acclaimed world premiere of Dijla Wal Furat: Between the Tigris and the Euphrates by Maurice Decaul, an examination of the early stages of the Iraq War and the phantoms that haunt the people of a burning Baghdad. In 2017 we presented an award-winning production of J.A. Moad II’s Outside Paducah: The Wars at Home tracing the toll of war as it reverberates across three generations of Americans. In 2021 we presented Veteran Voices: Rites of Passage, a series of two short poetic plays by Omar Columbus and Miguel Faña and a choreopoem by Jenny Pacanowski and Maria Salazar, navigating acts of becoming and transitioning that are often silenced in American military experiences during and after service.
