Nia Calloway is a multi-disciplinary artist from Texas who traverses the worlds of theatre, poetry, music, and dance. Her background in theatre has taught her so much about the body as a vessel for spirit, the voice as a wand for sorcery, and the mind as a swift battleship on the wayward seas. Since beginning her poetic journey in 2018, Nia has discovered the freedom in finding her voice, and the power of vulnerability. Through the combination of written word and explorative movement, she aims to create spaces of healing and introspection for her audiences. Driven by the desire to relate the natural world, the supernatural world, the cosmos, and time to our bodies, Nia’s art serves to heal and reorient the collective stories around femme bodies and BIPOC bodies. Nia believes in the inter-connectivity of art and how we can use it to heal and communicate world-wide.
