We are searching for original music, songs, poetry, spoken word, story-telling, drag, and all forms of performance in direct conversation with the theme above. All languages, backgrounds, and identities are welcome!
Artist Miriam Makeba used music as a way to fight for racial justice throughout the world. In her footsteps, we recognize that all art forms can be transformative tools for liberation, galvanizing communities to take action to make their worlds more inclusive, just, and loving. The possibilities of what our world can be are endless. Also in recognition of Juneteenth and LGBT Pride celebrations, we ask: How do YOU choose to live in those possibilities and embrace art as a tool for liberation? Original music, songs, poetry, spoken word, drag, story-telling, and other forms of performance. All languages are welcome. Join us at 5:30pm outside on East 4th Street for the Open Streets event, and then stay after the performance for a talkback with our community partners about using art as a tool for justice.
