David King is an actor, director, poet, curator, educator and NYC native. He acted in acclaimed independent feature films “Four Bottles” and “Stuck” by John Painz, accepted into the SoHo International, Art of Brooklyn and Newport Beach Film Festivals. His writing was featured in the poetry anthology The Barbershop Chronicles (Penmanship Books) and digital magazine Spindle. His self-published chapbook, Because the View, is a collection of original poems, musings and photographs inspired by growing up and aware in NYC. His photos were featured in The New York Daily News, Spindle and Musée.
He is developing Permission Portraits, a collaborative art project employing poetry, portraiture and performance in order to amplify the fullness and depth of black/brown lives and legacies. It’s a sensory love letter to black dignity, self-determination and quirk. WITHOUT PERMISSION is his performative offshoot blending theatre, spoken word and live photography. He earned a B.A. in Theatre from The City College of New York (CUNY) and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA). He appreciates those who contribute to the process.
