Mateo d’Amato was born in Providence, R.I. His mother is from Argentina and his father is from New York City. He began acting after starring in his first play as a miniature Sheridan Whiteside in, The Man Who Came to Dinner. Mateo left high school at 17 to study acting at Portland State University where he appeared in Hamlet and a local production of Big Love. At 18, Mateo moved to NYC to study acting and creative writing at The New School University. During his sophomore year he was cast in acclaimed playwright, Eduardo Machado’s, Mariquitas at Theatre for The New City. He left the New School after his Junior Year to pursue acting full time and has since starred in two Indie Films and several Off and Off-Off Broadway Plays. Mateo has worked with veteran actors such as Luke Perry, Olympia Dukakis and Angelica Page to name a few… He’s studied with Fay Simpson, Deborah Hedwall Company, and is currently studying with Anthony Abeson.
